Students graduated in Law, Criminology, Psychology and related studies who wish to delve into the criminal investigation techniques, its relation with the legal process and the causes and socio-psychological profiles in the criminal context.

Why study at the UAO CEU?

1. Specialisation

Solid preparation to get started in the practice of criminology and its relation with the work and professional aspects that are developed in the juridical, psychological and criminological branches.

2. Professional development

Students acquire a deep knowledge of the forensic practice before the Justice Tribunals and the different possibilities of their professional intervention in relation with Law.

It is addressed the study of the expert practice, whose advice is in charge of an expert with the acquired competences. It is also addressed the penitential field, regarding the different ways of complying sentences and the safety measures.

This course also works to obtain the practical skills required for measuring and to discover the potential of said technique as a useful and positive tool in the development of the students' professional life and/or their following studies.

The average work placement rate is 95% in the postgraduate studies of the CEU.

5. Information resources

The Library Service is conceived as a support unit for study and research. Its most important objective is to meet the educative and scientific demands. It has convenient opening hours, including weekends, with the best computer equipment. In addition, the UAO CEU offers to all the University community a vast digital storage, with free access to its publications from its docent, research or institutional activities carried out by teachers, students or former students from the University.

 

 

Study Plan

It is formed by three main areas: Forensic psychology, Criminology and Penal Process. Each one of these areas is formed by 6 sessions (one per week) of 4 hours, in which are developed the different subjects.

Forensic psychology area:

Coordinator: Ph.D. Bernat-N. Tiffon. Graduated and Ph.D in Psychology, Legal and Forensic Psychologist, professor of the Universitat Abat Oliba CEU.

Objective: Delving into the legal and criminology interrelation of forensic psychopathology, from childhood to adulthood. Digging into forensic neuropsychology and witness psychology concepts, as well as organisation of memories of witnesses. This module is complemented with Medical Science, in which the basic academic knowledge of forensic pathology are materialised through practice.

Criminology Area: Specialisation and Practice

Objective: Giving our students the theoretical and general practical knowledge, basic and general, of the different specialisations within the Criminology field from a practical perspective, so that they obtain a global vision of the different professional development lines of the criminologist on a national and international level. This module pays special attention to those specialisation lines that have a bigger professional projection in Spain for current criminologists.

Objective: Transmitting to our students a deep knowledge of the forensic practice before the Justice Tribunals and the different possibilities of their professional intervention in relation with Law. We address the study of the expert evidence by experts themselves, as well as the penitential field, and everything in relation with the different ways of sentence compliance and safety measures.

PAYMENT METHOD

To access the specialisation course in Criminal Practice of the Universitat Abat Oliba CEU, candidates must pay the total import of the course before the beginning of the classes. The Universitat's Postgraduate and University Extension Service will issue an enrolment form to the prospective student so that they can pay the fee at one of the financial institutions listed on the enrolment form. The students will have 15 calendar days to make the transfer.

The Universitat Abat Oliba CEU has credit lines with different financial institutions, so that students can finance their programme under preferential terms. ADMISSION PROFILE

Graduates and holders of diplomas in Law, Criminology, Political Sciences, Sociology, and Psychology who wish to know in more detail the science and practice of the criminal investigation, from the start of the intervention to the post-crime. Superior graduates with knowledge or accredited experienced in the criminology field and related sciences.

OBJECTIVES

  • Knowing the diagnostic practice of the different clinical-psychopathological entities and its forensic-expert use in the courtrooms.
  • Attaining a specialised knowledge in the interrelation of the clinical-psychopatological entities and their modifying circumstances of criminal responsibility.
  • Developping the necessary skills and aptitudes for a correct praxis in the elaboration of the expert reports and its oral defence before the Juridical Operators of the Courtrooms.
  • Preventive analysis of municipal situations that suppose a conflict in practice.
