2. Experience

Abat Oliba CEU University offers a solid, expansive and professional course structure which brings together university-level educational experience from the area of humanities, teacher-training colleges in Vigo and Seville and the CEU group's educational centres all over the country.

The aim of this degree is to offer a full and rich education, so teachers, as well as having a high level of technical and scientific knowledge, gain the necessary teaching skills to be excellent educators who see education as a vocation.

3. Intensive course to prepare students for access to education degrees

An intensive course on logic/mathematics and Catalan language to pass the personal aptitude test required for the Early Childhood Education and Primary Education degrees.

4. School Immersion Programme

From the first year, students directly work on real-life activities in the Abat Oliba Foundation's education centres, giving them practical knowledge of teaching tasks and everything that surrounds education.

  • observation of classes led by their professors, so they can learn from what their professors teach
  • talks with teachers of differing levels of experience about their motivations, difficulties, challenges, etc.

5. Educational robotics

A seminar where students learn the necessary applications, tools and resources of the present and future state of robotics.

6. Workshops and seminars

• Education TALKS: dynamic, innovative meetings that aim to provide a global reflection on new teaching techniques and methods.
• EDUCongress: aimed at education experts who work towards improving child development.

7. Postgraduate Degree in Primary Years Programme 

As of the third year, students of our degrees in Education will be able to take the Primary Years Programme, an online course that rewards them with the official accreditation required to teach classes all over the world. 

8. CEU ePlus Skills Programme

Teaching model based on practical, personalised training that allows students to link knowledge of theory with professional practices, by looking at real-life case studies and experiences, workshops and practical seminars. It includes visits to companies and production centres both nationally and internationally through placements.

9. Progressive International Development

New international experience programme that allows students of our Education degrees to internationalise their profiles from the very first year, with international collaboration activities, academic teacher and student exchanges, participation in international research projects and short- and long-term placements at foreign universities.

INTERNSHIPS

In the final year of the degree, students will do an obligatory placement year, or internship, in businesses, offices or institutions in the student's preferred industry.

These practical training programmes, included in the course structure, allow students to apply and enhance what they've learned in the course while acquiring the professional skills that will make their future transition to the workplace much easier.

The work that each student will undertake during the programme will be mutually agreed between the tutor in the business and the Work Placement and Employment Service coordinator in charge of the internship.

Furthermore, students have an academic tutor who provides follow-up and evaluation of the internship to get the most possible out of the placement.

Tuition fees correspond, solely and exclusively, to the provision of teaching as part of the programme enrolled on, and this is the only service offered in exchange for the payment of those fees. By enrolling, the student accepts that decisions made by the competent authorities may, directly or indirectly, render it necessary to carry out teaching, tutoring, work placements or assessment tests either in person or via distance learning.

The student accepts that they remain obliged to pay any such fees in full even if, for reasons beyond the control of the University, some of the educational activities included in the degree cannot be carried out as initially provided for in the course guides at the beginning of the academic year. If restrictions are part in place, the University will provide the student with a guarantee that the activity will be rescheduled when possible, taking into consideration the interests of the student and any other applicable academic criteria.

RESERVE YOUR PLACE

Once you've been accepted on the course, you can reserve your place at Abat Oliba CEU University, which guarantees you a place on the course, before you pass the “selectivity” university entrance exam* or other entry requirements. You can do this by making a payment of €1500 (which will be deducted from the total price of the course).


*Reservation of your place will be effective exclusively for the ordinary examination period (June) of the Baccalaureate University Entrance exam. Candidates who do not pass the Baccalaureate University Entrance exam or other access requirements for similar studies in the ordinary period (June), and have paid the Place Reservation Fee, will have priority in the September enrolment if the University has places available in the degree course requested.


Cancelling your place after reservation: students have until 30 June to cancel their reserved place. This means you can book now and cancel if your circumstances change later on.**

PAYMENT METHODS

Once you have formalised reservation of your place, the remaining amount can be paid in the following ways:

  • One-off payment

    A one-off payment entitles you to a discount of 3% on tuition fees.

  • Payment by instalments

    5 instalments per year.

 

  • Monthly payments

    10 instalments with special 0% interest financing from CaixaBank. This also entitles students to a discount of 3% on tuition fees.

  • new special financing

    New financing agreements with banks with special conditions.

Quality and regulation

ADMISSION PROFILE

Students must be interested in education and see the teaching profession a vocation dedicated to the individual and common good, as it is understood by most cultural traditions, ours in particular. Similarly, they must feel an inclination to the well-being of children at the early childhood education age. Without this, it will be hard to take on the inherent difficulties of teaching children at this level of development.

They must have the intellectual capacity to adapt to the cognitive conditions of their students and know how to adapt teaching methods to most efficiently achieve their teaching objectives.

Communication must come naturally, not just the written and spoken word, but through other media that elicit an active response from students, such as music, drawing, etc.

They must also know how to work in a team, both in concrete teaching tasks, as well as in more complex institutional backgrounds, such as schools.

An important condition for aspiring educators at the early childhood stage is the ability to mediate and resolve conflicts both in the classroom as well as in other areas of the educational community. In particular, students must know how to communicate with families, always respecting the schools subsidiary roles to parents.

OBJECTIVES

  • To have a solid understanding of the historical, philosophical, psychological and teaching foundations of education, children from 0 to 6 and the school system.
  • To have a solid understanding of content from different early childhood education disciplines.
  • To gain practical and applied teacher training covering all disciplines and school organisation.
  • To develop skills to work professionally and efficiently, both individually and in a team, for the good of the students. Graduates will be able to cater to each individual circumstance and act as a subsidiary collaborator with parents' educational work.
  • To stay constantly up to date with the latest knowledge and abilities, particularly when it comes to the changes that the information society is going through.
  • To occupy a valuable space in the school and sociocultural sphere, particularly regarding the relationship between schools and families.
  • To learn scientific skills to be able to implement new contributions to the world of teaching in any of their fields.
