The Work Placement and Employment Service is responsible for the professional orientation and the facilitator of the work placement of the students and the newly graduates from the University. It manages a Job Listing at a national level with more than 2,300 companies associated as International Careers with internships offers and first employment in more than 76 countries. It functionally depends of the Vice-rectorate for Students Affairs.
The 28 years of experience and insertion in the Catalan civil society ease one of the most valued and demanded functions by the students: the adequate incorporation to the professional world.
The transition from the classes to the professional world is not something that can be improvised.
In addition to the basic preparation of the students, and the importance of one's formation as an individual capable of working as a team and reacting to the changes of their settings, the students start to make contact with the professional reality throughout the entire degree.
In order to achieve this, the Service coordinates the following:
With this knowledge, students will be able to focus better on the search of their first employment, thus channelling accurately their professional career.
There are two forms of internships:

The Work Placement and Employment Service has expanded the scope of the Professional Orientation thanks to the collaboration agreement between the Catalan Occupation Service (SOC) and the Catalan universities.
The goal of the service is to favor the incorporation into the labor market of the beneficiary students with guidance and personal advising. We aim to improve the employability of the student body based on the tool formation and professional competences, necessary for the job search, by the means of individual and group sessions.
Among the activities being offered, we emphasize on:
The program for work competences CEU ePlus promotes the strengths of every student to develop their competences and help them achieve their professional goals. It accompanies the students since the first semester of the first year, and it increases until the last year, in which take place the professional competences workshops.
In addition, the students always have at their disposal the possibility to make an individual coaching procedure.
The programme includes:
The programme aims to strengthen progressively the professional competences and the labour socialization of the students. This formation will provide the necessary tools for the students to establish their professional goals and address with greater conviction their work placement.

These workshops are part of the Practicum subject, so they are performed by the 100% of the students. This allows them to self-assess their performance, and develop and have the professional feedback regarding the five more demanded competences for the junior profiles of every degree.
The workshop has a duration of 30 hours (3 ECTS) and is imparted in 2 hours or 3 hours weekly sessions, depending on the degree.
The competences for every degree have been selected keeping in mind the more demanded ones in our Job Listing offers, complemented with the ones in Barcelona Activa Job Listing to have even more information on the matter.
Typology of the workshops and sessions:
These programmes are not included in the study plan, without detriment to their posterior mention in the European Diploma Supplement. For the student, voluntary internships represent an opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge to real-life troubleshooting, as well as a chance to know the professional and personal relationships established within a company.
Many changes occur in the professional orientation processes of the students: the completion of their studies, and with it, the transition into adulthood, and the attainment of their first employment. In all of these, new emotions appear. The students have to learn to manage these emotions in order to optimise the outcomes.
The goal of these sessions is to promote the well-being of the students, and to guide them towards the realisation of their objectives.
To achieve it, we offer coaching sessions to work on their development and personal growth. To initiate the students in the process, we help them identify their principles, emotions and conducts, to be able to promote the change and foster their abilities and personal resources.
Trust, confidentiality and teamwork must coexist between the psychologist-coach and the student.

With the term "Vacation Work", we refer to the temporary jobs for the periods of Christmas, summer holidays or weekends. Those kind of jobs do not interfere with the academic course and can be accessed by our students since the first academic year. With these jobs, we intend to help our students find a way to obtain some extra income.
These job offers are published on a general noticeboard, accessible to all students that are registered on the Job Listing application, since those jobs do not require a specific profile of a particular degree.
